Blake Snell, 32, who failed to sign the contract he wanted in the free agent market despite winning the Cy Young Award last winter, has finally succeeded in re-entry.
ESPN, a U.S. sports channel, said on the 27th (Korea time) that the Los Angeles Dodgers and Snell agreed to a five-year-$182 million contract.
The contract will be officially announced after Snell’s medical examination. Snell finally won a total of nearly $200 million and an annual average of $36.4 million.
The deal includes Dipper and no opt-out. Snell will be wearing the blue jersey of the Los Angeles Dodgers from the ages of 33 to 37.
Snell pitched 104 innings in 20 games this season, going 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA and 145 strikeouts. What’s surprising is his second-half performance.
Snell had only 6.31 ERA in eight games in the first half. However, 꽁머니 had five wins and no losses in 12 games in the second half and posted an ERA of 1.45.
Snell pitched well, with his highest monthly ERA in the second half being 1.64 days in August. The peak was Aug. 3 against the Cincinnati Reds in a no-heater game.
Snell also showed once again how well he can perform when he is in good condition. This indicates that the highest score is at the level of a unanimous Cy Young Award.
Snell, in particular, proved that the power of four-seam fastballs was alive despite being in the 32-year-old season. This had the effect of putting more pressure on Snell to sign a long-term contract.
Snell is now the ace of the Los Angeles Dodgers, spearheading his second consecutive World Series title for the first time in the 21st century.
