Son Heung-min and Kubo Takefusa have been raised to form a “Korea-Japan duo” at Tottenham Hotspur.
British media ‘Team Talk’ reported on the 15th (Korea time) that “Tottenham and Bayern Munich entered the competition with Liverpool to recruit Kubo, which is difficult for Real Sociedad to keep.”
Kubo was Japan’s next generation talent, receiving so much attention that he played for FC Barcelona’s youth team. He went back to Japan in 2015, and in July 2019, he moved to Real Madrid. Real Madrid kept Kubo for free.
Contrary to expectations, life at Real Madrid has not been smooth. Kubo spent his time on loan with Real Mallorca, Villarreal, and Getafe. After being loaned to Mallorca in August 2021, Kubo shared a team with Lee Kang-in for one season.
In July 2022, Kubo moved to 비아그라 and completely parted ways with Real Madrid. After joining Sociedad, his skills were in full swing. Kubo performed very well in 44 official matches of the 2022/23 season, with nine goals and nine assists. Last season, he had seven goals and five assists in 41 matches. He has three goals in 16 matches this season.
Liverpool is showing great interest in Kubo. Tottenham and Munich joined the recruitment of Kubo, which was led by Liverpool. According to “Team Talk”, Tottenham wants to add utility and depth to the offense. They evaluate that Kubo’s speed and dribbling ability will be a great asset under coach Enze Postecoglou.
Besides Tottenham, Munich also wants Kubo. Munich also has Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry, but if Kubo comes to Munich, his offense could become stronger. According to Team Talk, Kubo’s buyout clause is 60 million euros (about 88.1 billion won).
